Mr. James Robert Pell, 75, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Oak Forest Nursing Center. He was born October 13, 1932 in Surry County to James Meredith and Maggie McBride Pell. Mr. Pell enjoyed music and played the guitar. He loved NASCAR racing and sports. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers. Surviving are his wife, Iris McMillian Pell of the home; one son, James Reuben Pell of the home; five stepsons, Bobby Lee Crotts (Carolyn) of Pilot Mountain, Larry J. Crotts (Beth) of Walkertown, Kenneth R. Crotts of Walkertown, Terry D. Crotts of Kernersville and Charles L. Crotts of Winston-Salem; two brothers, Calvin C. Pell of Thomasville and Gene M. Pell of Mt. Airy; one sister, Corrine P. Puckett of Mt. Airy; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27th in Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Walkertown with the Rev. Ted Crotts officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 26th at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 4 A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
