Mr. James ""Jim"" David Passero, 79, of Advance, passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home. Mr. Passero was born in Cambria, PA to David and Mary Podpori Passero on July 28, 1935. He was a charismatic Catholic Christian belonging to Holy Family Catholic church. Mr. Passero was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving four years in active duty and four years in the reserve services. In 1961, he graduated from St. Thomas in Minnesota and married his loving wife, Monica, on a cold Minnesota day with a temperature 28 degrees below zero. Mr. Passero was an avid hockey player and golfer. As a golfer, he won numerous championships including the West Virginia Mid Amateur and West Virginia Senior Amateur titles. Mr. Passero had the unique distinction of having two hole in ones in the same round of golf. Mr. Passero enjoyed sharing his time with others, organizing and participating in prayer groups and music ministries, in both West Virginia and North Carolina. He truly enjoyed playing the guitar and loved sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Mr. Passero was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dr. Nicholas Passero; and a special uncle, Joseph Podpori. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Monica Passero; a son, Christopher Passero and his wife Rita of West Virginia; two daughters, Maria Passero of Statesville and Angela Passero Boggs and her husband Doug of Connecticut; a daughter-in-law, Suzanne Passero; and six grandchildren, Marita, Alyssa, Elaina, and John Passero, and Samantha and Alexis Boggs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Stephen Hoyt officiating. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm Friday evening in the Curlin Center at the church. A graveside service will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens in Red House, West Virginia.
