James Jimmy Franklin Nelson

Mr. James ""Jimmy"" Franklin Nelson, 72, of Clemmons passed away Thursday, February 10, 2011. He was born June 25, 1938 in Forsyth County to John Frank and Margie Welch Nelson. Mr. Nelson attended Clemmons School. He was on the Board of Directors at Clemmons Fire Department. He lived all his life in the Clemmons community, and was a member of West Bend Baptist Church. He retired from R.J. Reynolds after 31 years of service. He also farmed on his family's land for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Gray Nelson; and a son-in-law, John Kiger. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Edna J. Nelson; one son, Keith Nelson and wife Doris; one daughter, Karon Kiger, all of Clemmons; five grandchildren, Ashlie Kiger, Jordan Nelson, Joshua Nelson, Caleb Kiger, and Jacob Nelson; special friends, Robert and Freada Crews; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, one special brother-in-law, Kenneth ""Pete"" James; numerous nieces and nephews, a special niece, Sharon Lanouette, and a special nephew, John Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 14, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Minister Danny Spainhour and the Rev. Carroll Bibb officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 13 at the funeral home.
