James Neal

James Curtis Neal, 85, passed away at Trellis Supportive Care on December 6, 2021. He was born on July 15, 1936, to Mack Duff Neal and Mary Sue Wilson Neal in Henry County, Virginia. As a young man, James served in the US Army. Later, he went to work at Hanes Dye and Finishing Company, retiring with 35 years of dedicated service. James was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church, where he provided visits to shut-ins and widows. Golf was one of his favorite pastimes. James will be remembered for his sweet spirit. He was a loving Daddy and Papaw. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a child; as well as one brother and four sisters. He is survived by five children, Zina Wilmoth (Randy), Jeffrey T. Neal (Leesa), Craig Neal, Michael Neal (Sarah), and Samantha Neal; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren (and two on the way); former wife and friend, Ruth Huie; and a large extended family. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, December 10, 2021, at Freedom Baptist Church in Rural Hall with Pastor Jon White and Bro. Clint Fredericks officiating. Interment will be at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Thursday, December 9, 2021, at the church.
