James William Myers

James William Myers

Mr. James William Myers, 81, went to his eternal Heavenly home on March 15, 2011. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Leslie Taft Myers and Marie Cornelia Troutman Myers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Salmons and a brother, Donald Myers, and a son-in-law, Mitchell E. Britt, Sr. Mr. Myers was a member of Oaklawn Baptist Church and was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company with 34 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He loved to go camping and fishing. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Myers is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marie Myers of the home; three daughters, Linda Freeman and husband Charles, Shirley Britt, and Patricia Pennell and husband Kenneth; six grandchildren, Charles Freeman, Jr. and wife Courtney, Renee Senters and husband Jared, Kimberly Britt, Heather Long and husband Brian, Bradley Pennell and wife Holly, and Mitchell Britt, Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Keith, Natalie, and Nicole Rush, Charlee Long, Collin and Addie Senters; a brother, Wayne Arnold Myers; and a special fishing buddy, James Flynn. A funeral service will be held at 11:00am, Friday, March 18, 2011 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Haley officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Thursday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
