Mr. James Edward ""Ed"" Myers, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 5, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born November 16, 1925 in Forsyth County to Susie Holsclaw Myers and James G. Myers. Mr. Myers was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a faithful member of South Fork Baptist Church who taught Sunday School and had Perfect Attendance for 52 years. He retired from Joyce Brothers after 37 years of service. He had a love for RC planes and was a longtime member of the WSRC (Winston-Salem Radio Club). Mr. Myers was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Templeton Myers; a son, Bobby Gray Myers; one sister, Mildred White and two brothers, Thurston and Donald Myers. Surviving are a son, Mike Myers (Cathy); two daughters, Vicky Kay Adams (Garland) and Susan Lynn Landreth (Ron) all of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren, Brent Adams (Shelia), Blake Adams, Rainy Chewning (Ron), and Rodney Landreth (Leigha); eleven great grandchildren, Milo, Madeline and Finn Adams, Bayler and River Adams, Kayla Doxtad, Canon, Talon and Laken Chewning, Ron Chewning, Jr. and Brieanna Chewning; one brother, Joseph W. ""Bill"" Myers and one sister, Wanda Pennell. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2015 at South Fork Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Smeltzer and Rev. Rick Sewell officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Fork Baptist Church, 3830 Wayne Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27104. The family would like to thank the staff and Doctors at Forsyth Medical Center, 8th Floor Palliative Care Unit for their special care of Ed.
