Mr. James Samuel Moser, Jr, 85, of The Elms at Tanglewood passed away on December 31, 2011 at the Kate Reynolds Hospice Center. Jim was born in Rural Hall on October 29, 1926 and grew up in Clemmons. After graduating from Clemmons High School, he enlisted in the US Navy and served as a carpenters mate on a minesweeper in World War II. He then worked at Western Electric, did carpentry work and in his last years before retiring, managed Piedmont Garage Door Company. Jim was preceded in death by his parents James Moser, Sr and Myrtle Hanes Moser, wife Violet Jane Moser, sister Helen Reich and brother Gene Moser. Surviving are his son, Sam Moser and wife Mary Lynette of Advance, two step-sons Mike Russell of Winston-Salem and Terry Russell and wife Bonnie of Sanford. He cherished his grandchildren Eric Moser, Kimberly Kennedy and Michael Price Russell and his two great-grandsons Brandon and Ethan Kennedy. He was a loving, caring and devoted son, husband and father and a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. Jim loved sports and took great pride in his garden and canning vegetables. Jim found great pleasure on a tractor helping his good friend, Gray Etchison. This kept him young in body and spirit and brought him back to his youth. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 1:30 pm Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Mr. Moser will be cremated and interred in a private ceremony.
