Walkertown - James ""Skeeze"" Oliver Morris, Sr., 87, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, September 3, 2008. He was born in Henocca Co., Virginia to the late Thomas O. and Lottie Hawthorne Morris. Mr. Morris was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. He was a WWII United States Army veteran, having served in the Philippines; and had retired from Piedmont Leaf Tobacco Company. He had many skills and trades some of which were farming and carpentry. Those who knew Skeeze appreciated his humor, and the love he shone to everyone. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Morris and a nephew, Jeff Morris. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Ruth Morris of the home; a son, J.O. Morris and wife Carolyn of High Point; a daughter, Susie Holloway and husband Al of Winston Salem; two grandchildren, Bubba Morris and wife Tracey of High Point, Chris Holloway and wife Dana of Pfafftown; and three great-grandchildren, Woody Morris of High Point, Zachary and Zoey Holloway of Pfafftown. A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm Friday, September 5, 2008 at Hayworth Miller Cain Funeral Home Chapel in Kernersville by the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Thursday, September 4, 2008 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, 2051 Old Hollow Rd., Walkertown, NC 27051. The family would like to express a special thanks to 7th Neuro and ICU Neuro of Forsyth Medical Center, Dr. Ed Hill, his home caregiver, Carolyn Morris; Gary Martin, Eddie and Darlene Smith, Hospice and Palliative CareCenter, and all of the family and friends that supported us during this difficult time.
