James William Billy" Mitchell

MITCHELL Mr. James William ""Billy"" Mitchell, 84, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 6, 1926 in Anderson County, SC to William George and Elsie Kay Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was a US Navy Veteran during WWII, a graduate of the University of Georgia, and was Territory Sales Manager for General Foods Corporation for 35 years. After retirement, He volunteered at Meals on Wheels for 23 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine Boalch Mitchell of the home; three children, Tommy Mitchell of Birmingham, AL, Kathy Mitchell Essic and husband Preston of Lewisville, and Danny Mitchell of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren, Meredith Essic Gomez and husband Manny of Clemmons, Lorraine Fincher and husband Josh, and Katelyn, Will, and Daniel Mitchell also of Birmingham, AL; two great grandsons, Brian and James Gomez . Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 27 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Clemmons with Dr. David Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends at home after the service. Memorials may be made to AARF, 311 Harvey St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or First Baptist Church, 501 W. Fifth St., Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
