James Middleton

Mr. James "Jim" Herchel Middleton, 101, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018 at Salemtowne Retirement Community. He was born April 10, 1917 in Guadalope Co., New Mexico to John Booth and Cora Whitley Middleton. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, and was retired from Bowen Town and Country Furniture with 25 years of loyal service. Mr. Middleton was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Ruth Minish Middleton; two granddaughters, Stephanie Martin and Anna M. Fishburne; three brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving are five children, John W. Middleton and wife Judith of Winston-Salem, James R. Middleton and wife Ann of Mt. Pleasant, SC, William Middleton and wife Beth of Boones Mill, VA, Linda M. West and husband Chester of Drexel, and Rebecca Payne of Winston-Salem; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 3:30 PM at The Smith-Saal Center at Salemtowne with Dr. Gary Chapman, Rev. Gary Byrum, and Pastor Rob Peters officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:15 - 3:15 PM. Interment will follow the service at Forsyth Memorial Park.
