James Chalmers 'Jim' Messick Jr.

Mr. James Chalmer ""Jim"" Messick, Jr., 85, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born in Forsyth Co. on October 11, 1927 the son of the late James Chalmer Messick, Sr. and Sarah Cornelia Taylor Messick. Jim was a faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church in Rural Hall.He retired from Piedmont Airlines with 37 years of service. Jim proudly served our country during WWII in the United States Navy. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing golf, and spending time with his church family. Jim will be missed by everyone who knew him. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Johnson Messick. He is survived by his church family at Faith United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Drew Southern officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park in Winston-Salem. The visitation for Jim will be 6:00-8:00 this evening Friday, May 24, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to; Faith United Methodist Church, 1645 Griffin Rd., Rural Hall, NC 27045.
