James L. McKnight

Mr. James Lawrence McKnight, 90, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. James was born on September 30, 1925 in Forsyth County to Paul Edward and Mary Alma Reinhardt McKnight. He was a supervisor at AT&T where he retired after many years of loyal service. He was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church and the D.M.A. Club at Grace Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Marie ""Pete"" McKnight. He is survived by one son, James Michael ""Jim"" McKnight and wife Barbara of Lexington; two grandchildren, Robin Bauer and husband Fred, and Randy McKnight and wife Kendra; three great grandchildren, Ashley Christensen and husband Kenny, Alex Bauer, and Matthew Bauer; two sisters, Eva Rice and husband Wayne of Sparta, NC and Phyllis Smith and husband Forrest of Roaring Gap, NC; and one sister in law, Willie Sneed and husband Ralph of Clemmons. A funeral service for James will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Mike Gates officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home at 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
