On December 2, 2021, James Franklin (Frank) McHone Sr., passed away peacefully at Forsyth Medical Center. Frank was preceded in death by his father; Thomas Marion McHone and brother; Bobby Lee McHone.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deborah (Debbie) Blizard McHone of Winston Salem, mother; Callie Dimmette McHone of Winston Salem, 3 children; Amy McHone Phillips of Winston Salem, James (Jamy) McHone and wife, Dana Hazelwood McHone of Seven Lakes, and Richard (Richy) McHone of Winston Salem, 4 grandchildren; Ariel McHone of Wilmington, De, Logan Mankaryos of Walnut Cove, Kieran Phillips of Winston Salem and Thomas McHone of Seven Lakes, NC, 9 nieces and nephews; Angie (Mike) Cavanaugh Queen, Shawn (Theresa) Cavanaugh, Tiffany (Steven) McBride Gudger, Heather (Jason) McBride Hicks, Trevor Sheets, Emily Sheets, Will Sheets, Kate Sheets and Carolyn Blizard.
Frank was a Christian, family man, Vietnam Veteran and Demon Deacon. Frank. Daddy. Grandpa. Pop. Uncle Frank. Peeroonie. Daddy Frank. Mr Frank. Coach.
No matter what he was called, he had a way of connecting with adults and children alike. He was a man of few words who would listen, and when he spoke to someone, his words were meaningful. He truly loved and wanted to help everyone he met, and he meant so many different things to so many different people. To his wife, he was a true and loving husband who did everything in his power to make her happy. To his mother, he was considerate caregiver who would sit and talk with her for hours. To his children, he was a quiet, loving force always ready listen and help them with their problems. To his grandchildren, he was a tolerant and patient grandfather who would give in to their every whim. To his nieces and nephews, he was approachable and always ready to play a board game or watch a ballgame. To his players he was an intense coach who taught sportsmanship and respect for the game.
