James Edward “Jim” McDuffie, 79, of Midway passed away peacefully Monday, February 8th at home with this daughters by his side.

He was born October 13, 1941 in Robeson County to the late David Paul and Esta Mae Edwards McDuffie.  He was a charter member of Griffith Baptist Church.  He graduated from Griffith High School and High Point College (now University).  He started working at IBM on the day his youngest daughter was born and traveled extensively throughout the US, United Kingdom, and Japan for 30 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Gale Pinnix McDuffie; his brother, David Paul McDuffie; his brother-in-law, Reeves Gardner; and father- and mother-in-law, Aldon and Ruth Pinnix.

He is survived by his daughters Leigh McDuffie Goodin (Brian) and Laurie McDuffie Lockwood (Bruce) of Winston Salem; his three grandchildren, Jordan Goodin (Imani) of Long Island, NY; Kaitie Lockwood and Jessie Lockwood both of Winston Salem; his sisters Faye Gardner of Walkertown; Kathy Meacombs (Harold) of Middlesex; his sister-in-law, Carol McDuffie of Raleigh; and his brother- and sister-in-law, Michael and Sandra Pinnix of Winston Salem. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Due to Covid-19, a private family memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 202 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC  27292 or Griffith Baptist Church, 1987 Old Salisbury Road, Winston Salem, NC 27127.

The family would like to extend a very special thanks to Hospice of Davidson County and to Dad’s caregivers Robyn, Lacey, Hillary, Athena, and Taylor.
