Mr. James Thurmond Marshall, 89, of Lexington, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was born in Forsyth County on September 7, 1931, to the late James C. and Nancy V. Sievers Marshall. Mr. Marshall was a proud veteran who served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Oak Grove Moravian Church. Mr. Marshall was retired from Modern Chevrolet. During the 60s, he road motorcycles cross country. He was the President of the Model “A” Restorers Club – Piedmont Region for ten years.
Surviving is his loving wife of sixty-four years, Elizabeth Minter Marshall; five children: Susan Marshall of Greensboro, Jennifer Herrin and husband Dwight of Greensboro, James “Jay” D. Marshall and wife Jodi of Harmony, Laura Jane Styers and husband Harold of Patrick Springs, VA, and Andrew “Andy” W. Marshall and wife Atchara “Jenny” of Lexington; six grandchildren: Megan, Jesse and wife Stephanie, Sarah and husband Stephen, Emily and husband Jon-Eric, Andrew, and little Sarah; and two great-grandchildren, Chase and Elias.
A graveside service will be held 12 Noon Monday, April 12, 2021, at Oak Grove Moravian Church Graveyard, officiated by Pastor David Berrier. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Grove Moravian Church, 120 Hammock Farm Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27105. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
