Mr. James William Lawson, 78, a devoted husband, father, ""PaPaw"", great ""PaPaw"" and a friend to many, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at his home. He was born May 24, 1938 in Forsyth County to the late George and Edna Stanley Lawson. James retired from R.J. Archer with 30 years of service. He loved his dogs, going to flea markets, yard sales and his time spent with his Big Oak buddies. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Mike Lawson. Surviving are his beloved wife of 33 years, Ann Lawson; one daughter, Pattie Jo; two sons, Mark and Dale (Sheryl); three granddaughters, James' sidekick, Amanda (Ricky),Nicole, and Lila ; three grandsons, Nathan, Brandon, and Jonathan; two great-grandchildren, Gracie, and Rylan, who were a big part of his world; four sisters, four brothers, and two brothers-in-law. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 24, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall with Rev. Eddie Honeycutt officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6PM to 8PM, Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall. . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church, 6012 Germanton Road, Winston-Salem, N.C, 27105.
