Mr. James ""Jim"" Chester Johnson, 73, of Advance, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born February 14, 1942 in Iredell County to Shelby Nell Feimster Johnson and Chester Lee Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a veteran who served in the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith. He was owner and operator of B.J.'s Country Food for 26 years and also owner and operator of Texaco on Cloverdale Avenue. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Mrs. Bessie Poole Johnson; two daughters, Sandy Cox (Gary) of Charlotte and Amanda Sanders (A.J.) of Mocksville; three grandchildren, Chase and Chad Cox of Charlotte and Blaze Sanders of Mocksville; one sister, Laranda Johnson of Statesville; two cousins, Nancy Laws and Peggy Pope and one special nephew, Lynn Cleary. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Oak Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Bobby Swaim officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
