James "Jim" Franklin Wooten

James “Jim” Franklin Wooten, 79, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2024, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, after a year of illness.

Jim was born on April 7, 1945, to the late Ellis F. “Buck” Wooten and Georgia Brannon Wooten. Jim served as a Marine before working at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He retired in 2010 from R.J. Reynolds with 35 years of service. 

Jim enjoyed dancing with the Winston-Salem Shag Club, where he was loved by many.

Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mindi Wooten Freeman.

Jim is survived by his caring wife of 23 years, Wanda; daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Alley (Chuck); son-in-law, Kevin Freeman; granddaughters, Miranda Beck (Adam) and Lindsay Hedrick (Ethan); great-grandsons, Jace and Brayden; and special aunt, Nancy Hollar, who was more like a sister. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem, NC 27127, officiated by Pastor Matthew Sink. The family will receive visitors an hour prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, make a memorial donation to Veterans Helping Veterans Heal, 3614 Glenn Avenue NE, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
