Kernersville – Mr. James Gray Forcum, 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at his residence. He was born on February 26, 1930, in Forsyth County to William Joseph Forcum, Sr. and Lillian Hooker Forcum. Jim served for two years in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the sweetest and most precious man on this earth. Everyone knew Jim with a smile on his face, and he would help anyone if they needed it. It is a well-known fact that Jim could be very sneaky about getting the check in restaurants. He was a loving husband, father, and Papaw to his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him, but he is now in heaven with the love of his life, Jan.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Jan Henderson Forcum and a very special grand dog, Jack.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Brian Forcum (very dear friend, Shell) and Steve Forcum (wife, Crystal); one daughter, Cindy Forcum Green (husband, Rich); five grandchildren, Dancy Sloan (husband, Scott), Dillon Jessup (and Kim), Shelton Forcum (wife, Morgen), Benjamin Forcum (wife, M’ya), and Joseph Forcum (and Lizzy); nine great grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews; and two grand dogs.
A graveside service for Jim will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Westminster Gardens in Greensboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Monday, March 4, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
