Mr. James “Jim” Andrew Day, 75, of Clemmons, NC, passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023. Jim was born in Wilkes County on December 4, 1947, to the late Fred James Day and Ruby Lee Johnston Day. Jim served his country in the United States Air Force and was a faithful Christian and a member of Ardmore Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Bates. Jim is survived by his wife, Glenda Day; children, Wendy Cockerham (Jason), Andrew Day (Kara), and David Day (Kristi); and grandchildren, Jesse Cockerham, Caleb Cockerham, Seth Cockerham, Hudson Day, Brody Day, Patrick Day, and Elliot Day. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Day (Abbye); sister, Becky Darnell (Reggie); brother-in-law, Hub Bates; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jim was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. Jim enjoyed watching sports, especially baseball. He enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports. Jim taught his family how to live, love, and follow their Lord and Savior without reservation. He will be remembered for his hugs, always making everyone feel loved and respected, and being a wonderful example for how to live your life as a father and man. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Gina M. Brock and Rev. Tyler Tankersley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. A private graveside service will be held at Shoaly Branch Baptist Church in Elkin, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Ardmore Baptist Church, C/O Handicrafters Ministry, 501 Miller St., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Day.
