James Lindo Jessup

Mr. James Lindo Jessup Sr., Age 72, of Pilot Mountain, NC passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at his home. Lindo was born in Surry county November 21, 1940 to the late James Porter and Donie Mae Cain Jessup. He was retired from US-Airways where he served as an Avionics Ground Communication Technician. Lindo was a charter member of the South Westfield Ruritan Club, a member of the board of directors Pilot Knob Vol. Fire Dept., and a deacon of Jessup Grove Baptist Church. Lindo was a person who believed in service and the responsibility we all have for each other, whether it was working for US Airways, holding an office in the Ruritan Club, or supporting your church. If Lindo could not be found on the farm working you would find him at the church working on the sound system, making sure the cemetery looked as it should, or attending one of many boards that he served on at the church. If he could not be found there just check around the Cook School Road Community, if there was someone who needed help, had sickness in their family, or a tragedy of some kind you would probably find Lindo there. If you were still looking for Lindo you might find him helping his family Christine, Lynn, or James and of course his grandson Lane. The Cook School road community has truly lost a valuable member of their community. Surviving is his wife of 53 Years: Christine Jessup, One Daughter: Lynn Jessup and special friend Roy Marshall, One Son and daughter-in-law: James Lindo and Angel Jessup Jr., One special grandson: Lane Evans, One brother and sister-in-law: Gilmer Ray and Judy Jessup, all of Pilot Mountain, NC. Lindo was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Sara Jane Cook. Funeral services will be conducted Friday July 26, 2013 at 2:00 pm at the Jessup Grove Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain, by the Rev. Barry Clement, burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Jessup Grove Baptist Church Thursday evening July 25, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and at other times at the Jessup home.
