James Edsel Idol

WALKERTOWN-James Edsel Idol, 68, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, February 19, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 6, 1946 in Forsyth Co. to the late Rober Edsel and Peggy Pague Idol.

Jimmy was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He served in the U.S. Army. He coached his sons in baseball at Walkertown Little League for many years. His joy was watching his grandsons play baseball, basketball, fishing with them at the coast, and watching his granddaughter show English at horse shows. Jimmy always started his day, reading his Bible. He loved to study prophecy and then share his understanding with a very special friend, Jimmy Norman. His greatest joy was knowing our children, their wives, and all his grandchildren were saved.

To My Husband;
Standing together before God and those we knew. Pledging our vows for all time, we kissed and said, ""I do."" We couldn't know the future, nor the challenges sure to come-but determined to face them together with hearts that beat as one. Our love has grown much deeper with every year that has passed. So much sweeter than new love, is our time-tested love that lasts. Thank You for the most wonderful 45 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Sue Idol.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Sue Joyce Idol of the home; sons, James Idol and wife, Kristi W. of Lewisville, Chris Idol and wife, Kristi K. of Walkertown; brothers, Mike Idol and wife, Debbie and Robbie Idol all of Kernersville; sisters, Janie Withers and husband, Glenn of Ocean Isle, Carol Westmoreland of Kernersville, Sherri Smith and husband, Jon of Kernersville; grandchildren, Josh Worley, Dalton Powers, Taylor Peyton, Hunter and Cassidy Idol.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with Rev. John Bowman and Rev. Mike Marshall officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
