WINSTON-SALEM-Mr. James Franklin Howell, 75, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Howell was born on April 23, 1936 in Forsyth County to Mr. Thomas H. Howell and Lillie Adams Howell. Mr. Howell lived in Oklahoma and Tennessee for part of his life and worked as a short-order cook and ran the snack bar at Smith Reynolds Airport until 1989 when he retired due to health reasons. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert Ray, Thomas H., and Carl E. Howell; two nephews, Tommy L. Howell and David L. Allen; and a niece, Frankie Ann Allen. Mr. Howell is survived by two sisters, Judith Allen and husband, Frankie Lee of Kernersville, and Mrs. Betty Belton of Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
