James Jimmy Ray Holland, Jr.

Walkertown-James ""Jimmy"" Ray Holland, Jr., 76, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, May 02, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 18, 1933 in Forsyth Co. to the late James Ray Holland, Sr., and Lucille Houston Holland. For over 42 years, Jimmy was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, where he faithfully served in the church's Bus Ministry for 36 years. He spent many years traveling the country, singing either with the ‘Glen Melody Four' quartet or with the Holland Family Singers. He, with his wife, owned/operated Jimmy Holland Guttering. Jimmy also served in the United States Army, and received the National Defense Service Medal. Surviving are his wife, Faye Shular Holland of the home; three daughters, Lisa Blackburn and husband, Jeff of Stokesdale, Debbie Willard and husband, Steve of Walkertown, Kim Holland of High Point; four grandchildren, Stephanie and Rex Blackburn, Matthew Willard, and Megan Pearl Howell; two sisters, Mary Motsinger and Dorothy Sides both of Kernersville; two brothers, Tom Holland of Winston Salem and Steve Holland of Kernersville. A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson and Dr. Steve Roberson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the church. Memorials may be made to, Salem Kidney Center, 2705 Boulder Park Ct., Winston Salem, NC 27101.
