James Gray Hill, Sr. passed away at Forest Heights Senior Living on October 30, 2014. He was born on November 30, 1936 to Earle Hill and Ina Gregory Hill in Forsyth County. Jim was a member of Friedberg Moravian Church and had been a member of Faith Baptist Church for 40 years. Jim retired from Gallins Vending and Sears. He loved going to the beach. He also enjoyed fishing, and was a big NASCAR fan. Jim was a very giving person who helped anyone in need. More than anything, he loved his family, especially his great granddaughter, Meredith. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wayne Hill, and 4 brothers, Edwin Bruce Hill, J.D. Hill, Raeford Hill, and Howard Hill. Surviving are his loving wife of 59 years, JoAnne Petrie Hill; son, James Gray Hill, Jr. (Becky); daughter, Tammy Hill Douglas (Paul); 5 grandchildren, Scott Hill (Misty), David Hill, Ruth Anne Hill, Brittney Douglas Mitchell (Greg), Paul Christopher Douglas, Jr (Erica); 6 great grandchildren, James and Logan Hill, Meredith Douglas, Adalyn Mitchell, Dakota and Evan Patterson; a brother, Albert Hill (Anne); and a special nephew, Bruce Hill. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Friedberg Moravian Church with Rev. James C. Newsome, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family wishes to thank Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their excellent care.
