Mr. James Edward Hartness, 82, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018. He was born June 18, 1936 In Iredell County to the late Jeff and Annie Hartness. Loving Husband, Father, and PawPaw. Our hearts are so sad at losing you here on earth, but we know you are in Heaven with our Lord and we will see you again. The legacy you have left behind is forever in our hearts and a Godly role model to follow. He loved his country and served in the Air Force and retired from RJR Archer. A faithful member of Woodland Baptist Church for 58 years, a Deacon, Bus Diver, Usher and member of the Ambassador class. His love and devotion to his family was priceless. “Thy Will Be Done.” In addition to his parents, Mr. Hartness is preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy and Dorothy, and brother, Howard. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Reva Hartness; two daughters, Teresa Stone (Benny) and Annette Hartness; granddaughter, Kristen Wall (Nick); grandson, Cory Creasy; great-granddaughter; Eden Wall; and brother, David Hartness. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Saturday, October 20 at Woodland Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Gammons officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park with Pilot Mountain VFW Post 9436 conducting Military Rites. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 19 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woodland Baptist Church Building Fund, 1175 Bethania-Rural Hall Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
