James Jim Harper

Mr. James ""Jim"" Harper, 89, of Clemmons passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Harper was born in Forsyth County on July 28, 1920, to George T. and Margaret Hauser Harper, and was a 1939 graduate of Clemmons High School. He was retired from Eli Witt Co. with 35 years of service. Jim and his beloved wife, Gladys Holder Harper observed their 69th wedding anniversary on March 20, 2010. In addition to his parents, preceding him in death were sisters Pauline Harper and Alta Warner of Clemmons; brothers Miller ""Bill"" Harper and his wife, Lessie, of Clemmons, and Herbert Harper of Franklin, TN; two brothers-in-law, E.L. Sweet of Clemmons and Thurmond Carter of Mt. Airy; and niece, Lisa Carter. Jim is survived by sisters Hazel Sweet of Clemmons, Juanita Carter of Mt. Airy, and Dora Conner and husband Clyde of Garner; brothers, Carl Harper and wife Sue of Franklin, TN, and Neal Harper and wife Lou Ann of Clemmons; sister-in-law, Bettye Harper of Franklin, TN; brother-in-law, James Warner, of Clemmons; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, Al Lawson; his two ""adopted"" children, Leslie Warner and Beverly Skiver; and special ""grandchildren"", Mark, Melanie, and Brent. Mr. Harper was a dedicated long time member of Warner Chapel Church of Christ in Clemmons, where he was involved in the Sunday school program, and taught for many years. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 am, Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Warners Chapel Church of Christ, 8999 Lasater Road, Clemmons, with Dennis Conner, Minister and Todd Hinson, Minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Carolina School of Biblical Studies, 8999 Lasater Rd. Clemmons, NC 27012, or to Carolina Bible Camp, P.O. Box 1234, Mocksville, NC 27028.
