James Gray Harlow

James Gray Harlow of Hound Ears Club, Blowing Rock, NC, passed away March 19, 2012 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born December 16, 1929 and was a graduate of Harvard College, class of 1952. He worked on Wall Street in New York City for many years for an insurance consulting firm and later became a partner and managing director of the Johnson Higgins Co. Jim loved many sports, but most recently hiking the NC mountains was his favorite. He was a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Ralph and Olive Michael Harlow; and his brother, Dr. Robert Harlow. Surviving are his three children, James G. Harlow (Debbie) of Greenwood, SC, Jeffrey M. Harlow (Lisa) of Richmond, VA, and Jill Harlow-Perks of Haworth, NJ; and his longtime partner, Winifred Coffman of Blowing Rock. He is also survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Harlow of Ipswich, MA. He was loved by his seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A private interment will be held at a later date.
