James Mont Goodman, Jr.

Mr. James Mont Goodman, Jr., 85, of Winston-Salem passed away Thursday, November 4, 2010 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. He was born May 26, 1925 in Wilkes County to James Mont Goodman, Sr. and Daisy Burkette Goodman. Mr. Goodman was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII in the European and Mediterranean Theaters. He was retired from Hennis Truck Lines with 40 years of service. He loved working in his garden and enjoyed fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Terry Grohman Goodman; his second wife, Pauline Stone Goodman; and two brothers, Kenneth and Bill. Surviving is one daughter, Sherry Jones and husband Albert of Morehead City; a son, Robert Goodman of Germanton; a stepdaughter, Brenda Id0l of Walkertown; one granddaughter, Dana Amberly English and husband Todd of Mooresville; two great grandchildren, Bentley and Braeden English; one brother, Paul Goodman of Landis: and a sister Iris Scott of Greenville, SC. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, November 7 at Ashelawn Cemetery in West Jefferson with the Rev. Chris Goodman officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, November 6 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Shelter Baptist Church, 1069 Old Hwy 16, Jefferson, NC 28640.
