James Lester Floyd, 77, passed Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Oak Forest Health and Rehabilitation. He was born in Mullins, SC to the late Lena Inez Spell and Albert Floyd. He was a veteran of the Korean War and retired from R. J. Reynolds after 34 years, as a Section Leader. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. He loved his family, enjoyed the outdoors, camping and working with his hands, especially metal work. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Scott Floyd; four children Greg Floyd, Kim Floyd Langevin, Mike Floyd (Denise), Kristin Floyd; four grandchildren: Betsy Snow (Jeff), Jon Langevin (Tina), Jarret Floyd (Lyndsey), and Tyler Floyd and five great grandchildren: Madison and Reagan Snow, Lily, Levi and Luke Floyd. He is also survived by five siblings: Doug Floyd (Mary), Carl Spell (Angie), French Holcomb (Ted), Derrell Spell (Sylvia), Patsy Cartland (Larry), a number of nieces and nephews and the family dog Jack Vader. A funeral service will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, October 4th at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Minister Wayne Snow officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and following the burial at the home of Mike and Denise Floyd, 4437 Tekoa Lane, Winston-Salem NC.
