James Everett Tedder

James Everett Tedder, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away on September 3, 2023. He was born on June 18, 1927, in Forsyth County, North Carolina, to his loving parents Everett and Beula Tedder of Walkertown.

Throughout his life, James had a strong sense of duty and commitment. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, bravely defending his country. After his military service, he dedicated himself to a long and successful career at Western Electric Co for 33 years until his retirement.

Outside of work and service, James had many passions and interests that brought him joy. He had a green thumb and spent countless hours gardening. His love for nature extended to horses as well as his Collie dogs. James cherished his time spent caring for these majestic creatures. Their loyal companionship provided him with comfort throughout the years. Always by his side, they filled his days with companionship and unconditional love.

When not tending to his garden or spending time with his four-legged friends, James was an avid sports fan. He enthusiastically cheered for the Atlanta Braves and New York Yankees on baseball game day. Additionally, he passionately supported the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and the Duke Blue Devils.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years Mrs. Betty Jean Cox Tedder, both of his parents Everett and Beula Tedder, Brother Burton Tedder, Sister Eloise King, daughter Pamela Jean Tedder and grandson Jeffery Dinkins.

He is survived by his son Mark A. Tedder and daughter Robin L. Pettitt (Robert); Six grandchildren Angie Johnson (Blake), Traci Fulp, Wayne Pettitt (Melanie), Tammy Denny (Scott), Bobby Everhart (Vicki), and James A. Tedder; twelve great-grandchildren; granddaughter-in-law Beverly Dinkins; brother William "TB" Tedder, sister Betty Gordon, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and very close friends. His warm presence and genuine kindness touched the lives of many.
