James Evans

James Ronnie Evans, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Ronnie was born on March 20, 1948, to Richard N. Evans and Hazel Kimmer Evans in Surry County. Ronnie attended Boonville High School and was a graduate of Camden Military Academy in Camden, SC, and attended Surry Community College. He served in the United States Army and was a Purple Heart recipient from his service in Vietnam. Ronnie retired from R. J. Reynolds in 2003 with 31 years of service. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Dawn Hall Evans; two daughters, Erika Evans Jester (Robbie) and Clarissa Brooke Evans; two grandchildren, Preston and Evan Claire Jester; three brothers, Verle, Bill and Rayford Evans. He was preceeded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Mary Evans Shaw and Nannie Sue Evans Williams. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Lewisville United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
