James Lindsay Elliott

James Lindsay Elliott passed away peacefully Saturday morning, September 19, 2015, while enjoying one of his favorite activities, camping.

Jim was born November 11, 1944, along with his twin brother Joe, to Walter Carl and Wanda Elliott and lived his entire life in Winston-Salem. Jim was blessed with two older sons, Mark and Chad, who gave him two dearly loved grandchildren each, Lindsay, Annah, Alexis, and Kelton. In 1981, he married the love of his life, Elaine Welch Elliott, and they gave the world two beloved sons, Matthew and Andrew. In 2013, Andrew added Stephanie Bradshaw to the family circle.

Family was Jim's first priority. He sought every opportunity to spend time with them and to give of himself, his talents, ideas, and resources. Jim loved a hearty laugh and often shared jokes and funny stories with friends and family.

Jim enjoyed a lifelong interest and self-taught ability in electronics. He studied electrical engineering in Burlington and taught industrial electronics and heating and air conditioning at Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools System's Career Center in the 1980's. Later, he owned and operated Elliott Technical Services.

Jim possessed a generous and fun-loving spirit. He was an avid bargain hunter and always looked for ways to help others. He served as his neighborhood's self-appointed and much-appreciated social director, organizing parties and trips so that neighbors could become friends and laugh together. As his health declined, he set up ""command central"" at home using the internet to continue his bighearted endeavors. Jim was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church, and in previous years, Knollwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and participated in many other ministries.

A memorial service will be held at Ardmore Baptist Church on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at 6:30 p.m. with visitation to follow at the church.
