James Richard Eller

WALKERTOWN - James Richard Eller, 87, went to meet his heavenly father Sunday, February 12, 2012 at his home. James was born September 21, 1924 in Forsyth County to the late Ray and Carrie Hester Eller. James retired from RJ Reynolds with 37 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, served as a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 936 and was a very active member of Love's United Methodist Church where he served in the Methodist Men's group. James was a member of the Walkertown Civic Club and Walkertown VFW Post 10471. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lorena Grubbs Eller; two brothers and one sister. Surviving are his son, James Wayne Eller (wife, Cindy) of Walkertown; a granddaughter, Jenny (husband, Clifford) Shrewsbury of Walkertown; a grandson, Jason Wayne Eller (wife, Christina) of Lexington; two great grandchildren, Destiny Eller and Jessica Hester; three brothers, Johnny Eller of Hubert, Joel Eller (wife, Lynda) of Hamlet, and Jerry Eller (wife, Paula) of Hickory; two sisters, June Carroll (husband, Ralph) and Joan Hedrick (husband, Mack) and a devoted friend, Kenneth Lawson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at Love's United Methodist Church with Rev. Sybil Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Love's UMC - Building Fund, 3020 Walnut Cove Road, Walkertown, NC 27051.
