James William Dockery, 91, of Winston-Salem, returned Home to his Heavenly Father and was reunited with his beloved wife, Leza Ann Norman Dockery, on Thursday, August 11, 2016. He was born April 9, 1925 to the late Luther Sam and Tommie Comer Dockery. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the European and Pacific Theaters, an ordained minister, and a retiree of Western Electric who loved to climb trees without supervision and grow incredibly delicious vegetables. He will be dearly missed by his daughters, Debbie Alvarez (Mike) of Walkertown, and Lesa Boone (Whit) of Louisville, KY; five grandchildren: Brandtly Spangler, Clint and Christa Golden, Seth and Abby Boone; great-grandson Cameron Phillips; three siblings, Sam and Kenny (Becky) Dockery and Patricia Manuel; and endless family and friends. His son Joe, brother Martin, and sister Lillian Kimel preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 21 at 2:00 P.M. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Steve Tilley officiating. Interment will follow at the Dockery Cemetery in Surry County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, or Parkland Church, 2900 Old Salisbury Road.
