James Turner

Mr. James “Doc” Kenneth Turner, 84, of Walkertown, NC, went to be with his Lord on February 23, 2022, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Doc was born on May 13, 1937, in Yadkin County, NC to the late Harvey Turner and Inez Dobbins Turner.  He attended Gospel Light Baptist Church and loved to spend time with and make his family happy. Doc also enjoyed reading his bible and watching both NASCAR and football.

His work career led him to Hanes Brands, Inc. as a machinist for several years and then more than 25 years at Westinghouse as a machinist and special projects machinist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Joy Bell Turner; his son, Dwight David Turner; stepson, Danial Joe Rowland; and his brother, Buck Turner.

Doc is survived by his granddaughter, Brittnee Turner Richardson (Cody); two great grandchildren, Arabellah and Holannd; and his son, William “Dee” Rowland (Cheryll).

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org.  Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family of Mr. Turner.
