Shortly after being diagnosed with cancer, Orville Cox, 70, of Winston-Salem passed away in the early hours of August 31, 2013. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Hilda Durham Cox; his son, James (Jamie) Orville Cox II; his daughter, Susan Cox-Lambeth, wife of Eric Shawn Lambeth; granddaughter, Olivia Lambeth; brother, Poe Cox of Garner; and two sisters, Alice Brown wife of Johnny Brown of Richlands and Eleanor VanAlstyne of New York. Born and raised in Richlands, he was the youngest son of Reuben and Evelyn Cox. He was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC. In his early years he graduated from Richlands High School. After serving in the National Guard he met and married Hilda Durham. The two were married and settled in Winston-Salem. He had a very successful career beginning with CIT a finance company and finally retiring from Bank of America with many award-winning accomplishments. He was an avid gardener, sports fan, devoted husband/father/grandfather and member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 2:30-3:30, September 3, 2013 at Hayworth Miller, 3315 Silas Creek Pkwy in Winston-Salem. Services will begin at 3:30. He will be laid to rest immediately following services at Pine Grove United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Kate B.
