Mr. James Arthur Cook, 69, of Mocksville passed away Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 14, 1940 in Forsyth County to Arthur Marion and Virginia Pinnix Cook. He was retired from R.J. Reynolds with 32 years of service. Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his father and first wife, Francis Carter Cook. He is survived by his wife, Allison Haynes Cook of the home; two sons, Jimmy Cook and wife Valerie and Joseph Cook, all of Mocksville; a granddaughter, Tiffany McGrady and husband Tedd of Winston-Salem; his mother; two sisters, Lois Wooten and husband Landon of Williamsburg, VA and Gena Chisholm and husband Tommy of Lexington and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church of Winston-Salem with Dr. Michael D. Simpson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 prior to the service on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piedmont Dialysis Family Fund, 655 Cotton Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or to the Humane Society of the donor's choice. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff of the 8th renal floor of Forsyth Medical Center for their kindness and compassion.
