James Howard Coffey, 79 of Clemmons, died peacefully on March 18, 2017 in his home surrounded by his family. He was a native of Watauga County, NC and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Mr. Coffey worked as a surveyor for John G. Baine Civil Engineering and retired from Landmark Builders in 2006 as VP of Construction. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and jigsaw puzzles. Preceding him in death were his parents, Glenn and Reba Jones Coffey; daughter, Janet Lee Coffey; sister-in-law, Joyce Coffey and a brother-in-law, Ted Williams. Surviving are his loving wife and best friend of 59 years, Janice Lucille Trivette Coffey; daughter, Patricia Hurst (Jim) of Bardstown, KY; son, Mark Coffey (Tammy) of Clemmons, NC; brothers, Bill Coffey (Sandy) and Joe Coffey; sisters, Maxine McGuire (Tom) and Lorene Williams; grandchildren, Jessica Talley, Janet Lee Coffey, Rebecca Hurst, and Rachel Hurst; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel with Mr. Joby Poteat officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 1030 Big Hill Rd., Boone, NC 28607 ATTN: J. Lookabill or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
