James Edward Cockerham

CLEMMONS James Edward Cockerham, Dec. 16, 1932-April 27, 2013. Jimmy Cockerham, 80, passed away at Regency Care in Clemmons. He was born in Forsyth County to Mollye Phillips and Clyde Henry Cockerham. He lived in Athens, Greece, his first 3 years where his father was a tobacco buyer for R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. He lived in Winston-Salem until he required nursing home care. Jimmy was a member of First Baptist Church. The highlights of his last years were birthday parties given by devoted members of the church and other lifelong friends. Surviving are his brother, Dr. Hal Cockerham of Advance; nephew Hal Cockerham Jr. (Nicole), and great nephews Jacob and Joshua Cockerham, of Elon, NC. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of W-S on Friday May 10 at 11:00AM with Dr. David Hughes officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice.
