James Lawrence Carlton

Mr. James Lawrence Carlton, 87 of Winston- Salem died Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. Mr. Carlton was born September 7, 1922 in Wilkes County, a son of the late Mart Carlton and the late Elizabeth Pilkenton Carlton. He was a US Navy veteran serving in WW II and was a retired Bowling Machine Mechanic. He was a member of Hanes Baptist Church In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Audrey Alexander, brothers, Howard, Carl, Earl, and Thomas Carlton. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Kimmer and husband Fred, grandsons, Fred Kimmer, III and wife Melissa, Christopher Kimmer and wife Cindy; great-grandsons, Michael Kimmer and Rowan Kimmer; great-great granddaughter, Alexander Kimmer; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Gus Thomas officiating.
