His proudest moment was beating his dad for the Derby title at the Dixie Classic Fair. James was born August 20, 1992, in Winston-Salem, NC, and worked as a welding fabricator at A.M. Haire Trucking Co. James leaves behind his mom, Joyce Brown, his dad James “Jimmy” Brown (Teresa), his sister Ally Brown (Jamey), his grandma Lou Brown, a very special niece and nephew, Travis and Chloe Brown, three step-sisters, Falicia Delapp (Michael), Christina Hendrick and April Hemrick, 2 step brothers, Glenn Anderson and Blair Huffman. James was preceded in death by his grandpa, Thomas Brown and step-brother Brian Huffman. The family would like to extend a special thanks to their Bowman Gray Stadium racing family for all of their love and support and to Jonathan Brown, Billy Gregg, Chip Johnson, Tommy Neal and Bryan Sykes for being such great friends to James and for always being there for him.
