James Bowman Jr.

Mr. James Eugene "Gene" Bowman Jr., 67, died on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at his residence. Gene was born on December 13, 1950, in Guilford County to Rolla Thacker and James Eugene Bowman, Sr. He graduated from Grimsley High School in 1969 and subsequently served four years in the U.S. Airforce. In 1979 he furthered his education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where he graduated with a B.S. in Mathematics and pursued a career in Computer Science. Gene was an employee of Novant Health for the past 10 years. He loved his family, adored his grandchildren, and will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his father, James Eugene Bowman Sr. Surviving are his loving wife of 35 years, Jane Ramseur Bowman; mother, Rolla Williams; four sons, Jamie Douglas Bowman, James Zachary Bowman (wife Quyhn), Daniel Vincent Bowman, and William Scott Bowman (fiancé Sammie); one daughter, Katherine Bowman Simmerson (husband Adam); and four grandchildren, Cali Smith, Adeline Simmerson, Luke Bowman, and Oliver Bowman. Also surviving are two sisters, Terry Cybrynski (Ronnie) and Carla Ayers; two nieces, and two great-nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek with Pastor Doug Klein officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Ave, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Gene's coworkers at Novant Health for all of their love and support; and to the staff at Hospice Palliative CareCenter and Forsyth Medical Center's 9th floor oncology for their care and compassion.
