James Robert "Jimmy" Bowman

James Robert ""Jimmy"" Bowman, 60, passed away unexpectedly on September 8, 2015. He was born on February 6, 1955 to Bill Franklin Bowman and Pauline Johnson Bowman in Forsyth County. Jimmy was employed by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a mechanic, retiring with over 40 years of service. He was a devoted member of Faith Chapel where he served as the church's sound technician. Jimmy enjoyed a variety of sports including fishing, bowling, golf, softball, NASCAR, and football, which was his favorite. Jimmy was a giving person who would do anything for anybody. He was known for his caring nature and selflessness. He loved his family dearly and treasured his canine companions. Jimmy was preceded in death by his father. Surviving are his wife of 18 years, Susan Goebel ""Susie"" Bowman; daughter, Ashley Stevens (Chad); son, Andy Meetze (Terra); step-children, Betsy Owens (Daniel), Ron Dunsmore, and Sherri Dunsmore; grandchildren, Devin, Tyler, Summer, Arya, Grayson, Faith and Avalee; his mother, Pauline Bowman; his brother, Wayne Bowman (Linda); two sisters, Billie Bowling (Connie) and Brenda Anderson (Ronnie), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Pinedale Christian Church with Pastor Wesley Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith Chapel Building Fund, 3628 Ogburn Ave. N.E., Winston-Salem, NC 27105-3752. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
