James Dixon ""JD"" Beshears, 96, of Clemmons, passed away January 2, 2016. He was born April 26, 1919 to Florence and James Beshears in the Hanestown community of Forsyth County. JD was one of ten children all of whom proceeded him in death. After the death of his parents JD and his youngest siblings lived at Barium Springs Orphanage and he graduated from Barium Springs High School in 1939. JD was a WWII veteran and a survivor of the Bataan Death March. After being held prisoner of war for 3 years and 4 months at Mukden POW Camp he was liberated on August 15, 1945. JD was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Manning Beshears. He retired from Western Electric after 28 years of service and was an avid golfer with many devoted golfing buddies. Surviving are his son James (Gwyn), granddaughter Gina Brannock (Russ) and children Ryan and Matthew, nephew Grant Clark (Beth), niece Delores Clark along with many other nieces and nephews. JD had many special friends and all who knew him loved him. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Hayworth Miller Kinderton Chapel in Advance with Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons. The Family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. The family would like to give a special ""Thank you"" to Morgan Price a very special caregiver and Hospice Palliative Care.
