Mr. James Edwin ""Doc"" Bennett, Jr., 84, passed away December 18, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born January 25, 1931 in Forsyth County to the late James Edwin Bennett, Sr. and Adelaide Livengood Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a member of Konnoak Hills Moravian Church. He attended Griffith School and worked at Hine Bagby Clothing Store and subsequently retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. He was very active in the Boy Scouts of America for over 60 years and was Scout Master with Troop 144 and Troop 744. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Tucker Bennett and his brother Charles Bennett. Mr. Bennett is survived by his son, Mike Bennett (Mitzi); his daughter, Dawn Bennett Kuehne (Don); his grandchildren, Maria Shemaiah Conti, Jamie Leigh Shouse, Luke Lanning, Kelly Barnnette, Donnie Kuehne, and Jay Moser; his great-grandchildren, Jesse, Alex, Nick, Jaeden, and Alexis; his two sisters, Nancy Frye (Frank) and Martha Petrea; his God children, Rick Goforth, Angie Bethea, and Louie Jones. He is also survived by his loving companion, Pat Shelton. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Raven Knob Scout Reservation with a reception following in the museum and a memorial service will also be held at 3:00pm, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church with the Rev. John D. Rights officiating. Inurnment will follow in God's Acre at the Salem Moravian Graveyard. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 3:00pm prior to the service.
