Mr. James ""Jim"" Thomas Benedict, 71, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born June 13, 1937 in Clinton, Kentucky to Walter Franklin Benedict, Sr. and Effie Phillips Benedict. Mr. Benedict was of the Baptist faith and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was employed with Budd Security as a guard for the past few years after retiring from Forsyth Medical Center as manager of parking. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Ben Benedict; and a sister, June Benedict. Surviving is his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Bowman Benedict of the home; three daughters, Sandra Castillo of San Diego, CA, Holly Brooks and husband Randy of Winston-Salem, and Donna Adkins and husband Darrell of King; one son, James ""Glenn"" Benedict of Lexington; five grandchildren, Alexius and Morgan Benedict, Joshua, Jacob, and Jeremiah Adkins; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Dugan of Moneta, VA. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Fred Moretz officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
