James Bernard Bernie" Alspaugh, Jr.

Mr. James Bernard ""Bernie"" Alspaugh, Jr., 54, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center after a long battle with Lou Gehrig 's disease (ALS). He was born September 22, 1956 in Wichita Falls, Texas to James Bernard Alspaugh Sr. and Hazel Ward Alspaugh. Bernie attended North Carolina State University. Surviving are his parents of Winston-Salem; three children, Brandon Alspaugh, Lindsay Alspaugh Boyce (Daniel), and Kristen Alspaugh; as well as two brothers, Donald Ward Alspaugh (Shannon) and John Steven Alspaugh (Patricia). A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hayworth Miller Silas Creek Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Pine Grove United Methodist Church with Dave Peickert and Rev. Dr. Stephen Martin officiating.
