Mr. James Garfield Aaron, Sr., 80. of Winston-Salem, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at his home. He was born April 5, 1931 in Forsyth County to Moyer Garfy and Cleo Smith Aaron. Mr. Aaron was retired from the ABC Board with 25 years of service as manager. He loved to fish, go to the beach, watch wrestling and his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves, and was a pet lover. He was a caring and loving father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna Nance; and his wife, Carrie Henderson Aaron. Surviving are four children, Dianne Messick (Pete), James G. Aaron, Jr. (Velma), of Winston-Salem, Paulette Smith and Phyllis Seagle, of Kernersville; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild due in December, Cameron Allen; two sisters, Hazel Byrd of Kernersville and Velner Smith of Winston-Salem; three special four-legged friends, Buddy, Molly and Sugar. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
