Mrs. Jacqueline "Jackie" Casselman Whitaker, 86, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 16, 2023. She was born on January 18, 1937, in Georgetown Co, SC to the late Ulysses and Sally Cox Casselman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Mayo Whitaker, grandson Garrett Cromer, her younger sisters, Belva "Tissie" Brucker and Sylvia Newsom, her niece Beverly Shultz and great niece Tonya Schutz. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Cromer; granddaughter Jacqueline Morris (Joshua); great-grandsons Eliott and Emerson; four nieces, Wanda Roberts, Sharon Crews, Amy, and Anna Newsom; and, great nieces and nephews, and a dear friend of hers was her former son-in-law, David Cromer. She was a member of Temple Terrace Faith Assembly of God, in Temple Terrace, Florida, where she loved being a Sunday School teacher for children’s church. She loved The Lord and always went to church when she was able. Her giving and loving nature led her in the footsteps of her mother to work as a Nurse's Aide with the elderly and the disabled in nursing facilities, and as a Home Health Aid for many years. A memorial service will be held in The Davis Chapel located in the Divinity and Religious Studies Building, adjacent to Wait Chapel, Wake Forest University campus, 1834 Wake Forest Road Winston-Salem, NC 27106 on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. Pastor Greg Carswell, Rural Hall Church of God, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, whose kind, gentle, and caring staff took loving care of my mother, Jackie.
